Yavor Gardev needs no introduction – his name is one of the most frequently seen on theatre posters, not only in Bulgaria but also abroad. He holds a Master’s degree in Philosophy from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” (1997) and a Master’s degree in Directing for Drama Theatre under the mentorship of Ivan Dobchev at NATFIZ “Krastyo Sarafov.” Later, he further specialized at various institutions and forums in Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and the USA (1996–2022).
All of this training and extensive experience led SPAM Studios to invite him for a creative meeting, offering an opportunity to get closer to his artistic world and gain insights into his directorial explorations.
The meeting was aimed both at theatre students and established artists, who had the chance to ask questions about Gardev’s approach to working with actors, his choice of themes and plays, as well as the motivation that is key for any artist in developing their career.
The event was moderated by Ana Bateva, with Toplocentrala as a partner.
The creative meeting was realized with the financial support of the National Culture Fund under the One-Year Grant Program 2022, in partnership with RSCI Toplocentrala.
